Senior Manager, Brave Europe Region

The Brave Movement, launched in 2022 by Together for Girls and global partners, is a survivor-led global advocacy movement dedicated to ending childhood sexual violence. Together for Girls operates in over 20 countries, combining advanced data and powerful advocacy to combat violence against children and adolescents, especially sexual violence. The Brave Movement Action Team (“MAT”) are a nimble and highly impactful team that continues to grow and evolve. We serve as a secretariat for the global Brave Movement, working with a broad range of organizations, researchers, and advocates to drive change.

The Senior Manager, Brave Europe Region, will support the development of the Brave Movement’s regional European campaign strategy in coordination and alignment with both the organization's larger global campaign initiatives and Europe Platform leadership and will lead on the implementation of the strategy. They will lead and coordinate the development of the movement in the region, in coordination with the global movement development and membership support approach. Success in this role will involve amplifying survivor voices and developing innovative campaign strategies to influence European institutions, policymakers and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Campaigns

  • Support the development of the European campaign strategy in coordination and alignment with the larger global campaign strategies for the Brave Movement with partners and allies.
  • Lead on the delivery of Brave campaigns (currently Brave is prioritizing an online safety campaign) in coordination with the Movement Action Team and provide regular updates both internally and externally (through established and agreed communications channels).
  • Work with the Director of Global Campaigns to secure communications support for the European campaign work.
  • Ensure partnership development and management of key European campaign partners, survivor leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with European Commission officials, European Parliament representatives and other European policymakers.

Movement building

  • Support Brave Movement’s Survivor Advocates Globally Empowered (“SAGE”) survivor advisory council, key partners, and Movement members in developing campaign and networking skills and capacities – with a particular focus on European members.
  • Develop relationships and networks towards membership with public survivor leaders and survivor-led organizations, track engagement, and support interest in engagement in the movement.
  • Assist Europe-based Platforms at the National and Regional levels, providing resources, training, and connections. Ensure Europe-based Platforms are being highlighted by Brave communications channels and broader membership.
  • Support the development of a positive, collaborative, and harmonious culture within Brave’s European membership.

Internal coordination and project management

  • Participate in team and organization-wide meetings, using these spaces to disseminate knowledge, share learning moments, and celebrate successes.
  • Support proposal development and reporting to ensure future funding for campaign and movement initiatives.
  • Manage the implementation of grant deliverables and reporting Collaborate with the larger Movement Action Team to ensure overall alignment of strategies both globally and regionally.
  • Manage consultants, junior staff and project budget.
  • Work with monitoring and evaluation framework to track campaign progress and iteratively improve strategy and provide monthly update reports on the EU campaign.
  • Other duties, as assigned by your supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years’ experience leading international or regional campaigns in a non-profit, UN agency or social good organization.
  • Strong knowledge of the European Parliament and political environment.
  • Good knowledge of the technology sector and current Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) policy and political context
  • Significant experience of working with international coalitions or movements
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work virtually in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural competency and demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communications skills including being able to write content for press releases, policy briefings, social media content and more
  • High emotional intelligence with a proven ability to build strong, empathetic relationships and be trauma-informed.
  • Cultural competency and ability to build diverse relationships.
  • Advocacy and negotiation skills with a track record of successful outreach.
  • Commitment to Together for Girls’ values.
  • Fluency in English and French.

Desired

  • Direct experience working with survivors of sexual violence in a trauma-informed way.
  • Knowledge of the child protection sector.
  • Experience working with, or knowledge of, The European Child Sexual Abuse Legislation Advocacy Group (ECLAG)
  • Additional languages, especially Spanish or German.

Location & Ways of Working:

This position is a full-time position that must be based in Europe, preferably Brussels but if not with a willingness to travel to Brussels regularly. Applicants should have work authorization for their preferred location prior to their application.

Together for Girls is a fully remote organization. All team members are expected to be available during the core working hours of 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. The other four hours that the team member chooses to work are flexible and may be coordinated with their supervisor. This position will also require travel up to 10-15% of time.

Compensation

This role offers a competitive salary adjusted to the cost of labor in the city where the candidate resides. Final salary within this location adjusted range will also be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and years and type of experience.

For example, the annual salary for the position for a candidate based in:

  • Brussels, Belgium €64,000 - €73,000
  • Ghent, Belgium €48,500 - € 57,500
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands €72,250 - €81,250
