The Coalition for Good Schools is a collective of global south practitioners committed to preventing violence against children in and through schools across Asia, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Its Africa hub invites you to a discussion to delve deeper into effective approaches for preventing VAC at school in diverse contexts across sub-Saharan Africa.
Roughly 2 out of 3 children across Africa experience physical and sexual violence at home, school, and community. Preventing VAC in schools, where children spend a large proportion of their time presents a unique opportunity to influence children's childhood experiences and their future. Whole-school approaches address the concerns of the entire school and have been found to be particularly effective in preventing school violence.
This 75-minute session will include a discussion on the potential and challenges of implementing a whole school approach in Uganda, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone and elsewhere in the sub-Saharan Africa region. Join the conversation with regional practitioners on utilising a whole school approach to prevent violence against children in Africa's schools.
