This week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the fifth Women Deliver Global Conference – the world’s largest gathering on women’s health and rights – will be held in Vancouver, Canada from June 3-6, 2019.
Following this announcement, Together for Girls Executive Director and CEO, Daniela Ligiero, issued the following statement:
“The Together for Girls partnership is proud to have the Government of Canada as a partner and ally in ending violence against girls and women—in all its forms. We applaud them for their continued leadership.
We are also delighted to be partnering with Women Deliver on Deliver for Good — a global campaign that applies a gender lens to the Sustainable Development Goals and promotes 12 critical investments in girls and women to power progress for all. Additionally, Women Deliver is a partner on our Every Hour Matters campaign, which aims to increase awareness about the critical importance of quickly accessing post-rape care, and calls on national and community leaders to ensure comprehensive services are available in all communities.
The 2019 conference will be a landmark moment, and an incredible opportunity to connect movements. Leading up to the conference, Together for Girls will re-double our efforts to better align and connect global work to end violence against children and violence against women. We look forward to working with all of our partners to ensure these issues are kept front and center.”
