Together for Girls applauds the strategy’s focus on a life course and survivor-centered approach to prevention, healing, and justice
Washington, D.C., December 12, 2022 — Together for Girls applauds the launch of the 2022 U.S. Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence Globally and the guiding principles of the strategy: human rights-informed, intersectional, inclusive, applying a life course lens, survivor-centered, and locally led. The 2022 Strategy is the product of numerous consultations with civil society organizations, survivors, youth, and other critical stakeholders. It highlights the Violence Against Children and Youth Surveys (VACS) as an important component of programming to address and prevent gender-based violence.
This updated strategy is a critical step toward building a future free from gender-based violence for all people and makes important progress toward breaking down siloes between efforts to prevent and respond to violence against children and violence against women and other marginalized groups. We look forward to continuing to work with partners, including the US Government, to build a safer world for all, including children, adolescents and young people.

About Together for Girls
Ending violence against children cannot be solved by a single actor or sector alone. Together for Girls is a global partnership to end sexual violence against children and adolescents. Active in over 20 countries, Together for Girls unites actors that often do not work together, including national governments, United Nations entities, the private sector, civil society, and survivors. Through data and advocacy, Together for Girls drives action to break cycles of violence and ensure prevention, healing, and justice.
