As part of a Child Abuse and Neglect Journal special issue on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), this study assesses the associations between ACEs and negative health outcomes and risk-taking behaviors among young adults and evaluates whether — and which — Positive Childhood Experiences moderate the association between ACEs and these outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa.
This multi-country analysis combines cross-sectional representative survey data from young adults, ages 18–24 years, from the Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Namibia Violence Against Children and Youth Surveys.
