Uganda Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) report 2018 (data collection 2015)


In 2015, the Government of Uganda launched the Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS), with technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as part of the Together for Girls partnership. The VACS measure multiple forms of violence against children and adolescents including sexual, physical, and emotional; they also provide important data on risk factors, protective factors, and consequences of violence. In 2018, the Government of Uganda launched their VACS report with support from PEPFAR, CDC, UNICEF, and other partners.

Partners included:

  • Government: The Uganda Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics.
  • Bilateral and multilateral organizations: ChildFund International Uganda Consortium, including ChildFund International Uganda, the Centre of Excellence for the Study of the African Child, TPO Uganda, Makerere University School of Public Health, USAID, UNICEF Uganda, PEPFAR, and CDC Division of Violence Prevention.
